Amaravati ORR advances with Rs 30,491 crore, four packages
Amaravati is getting a very large road called an Outer Ring Road.
It will be about 195 kilometres long and mostly have six lanes.
The road will pass through parts of five districts and nearly 100 villages.
It is designed to help trucks and other long-distance vehicles avoid crowded roads in Vijayawada and Guntur.
The project will include bridges, tunnels and a special road link near Guntur.
It is expected to improve connections to highways, industrial areas and the Gannavaram airport.
The project cost was reduced from Rs 38,450 crore to Rs 30,491 crore by removing some planned features.
Land acquisition began in 2025, but the smaller tunnel design may make future widening difficult.
NHAI is restructuring the 195.13-km Amaravati Outer Ring Road into four construction packages.
The project includes a 189.93-km six-lane ORR and a 5.2-km four-lane spur.
The corridor will cross about 97 villages in 23 mandals across five districts.
Estimated costs include Rs 10,595.70 crore for civil works and Rs 5,315 crore for land acquisition.
Scope reductions removed the Tenali-Kaja spur and outer service roads, but limit future tunnel widening.
