Thane Connectivity Projects Advance as Creek Bridge Piling Exceeds 95%
Several big road projects are being built in and around Thane.
The Gaimukh–Payegaon Creek Bridge is 6.5 kilometres long.
Workers have finished more than 95% of its piling work, but the whole project is about 25% complete.
The bridge will connect Gaimukh with Chinchoti and Payegaon.
It should give cars and trucks a more direct way to reach Bhiwandi and Vasai.
Another project is a six-lane coastal road between Balkum and Gaimukh.
A separate elevated road will run between Anand Nagar and Saket.
Together, these projects are intended to provide more routes and reduce traffic on busy roads.
More than 95% of piling for the 6.5-kilometre Gaimukh–Payegaon Creek Bridge is complete, while overall work is about 25% complete.
The bridge will connect Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road with Chinchoti and Payegaon, creating a more direct route toward Bhiwandi and Vasai.
The bridge is expected to bypass the Ghodbunder ghat, existing ferry route and longer route through Fountain Hotel Junction and Chinchoti.
MMRDA is also developing a 13.45-kilometre, six-lane Thane Coastal Road between Balkum and Gaimukh.
An 8.24-kilometre, six-lane Anand Nagar–Saket elevated road is intended to reduce congestion at several busy Thane junctions.
