PMRDA proposes 4 bypasses to ease Pune-Nashik Highway congestion
There is a very busy road in India called the Pune-Nashik Highway.
Every day, many cars and trucks drive on it to reach factories and workplaces in an area called Chakan-Talegaon.
Sometimes there are so many vehicles that everyone gets stuck in traffic jams.
A group called PMRDA, which helps plan the region's growth, has come up with a plan to help.
They will build four new roads, called bypasses, that go around the busiest spots like shortcuts.
This will let big trucks avoid crowded junctions and reach the highway faster.
The project will cost about 100 crore rupees, which is a very large amount of money.
Work started in February 2026 and should be finished within about 12 months.
When the new roads are ready, people should reach work faster, use less fuel and have safer journeys.
PMRDA has announced four new bypass routes under 'Chakan Deadlock Work' to ease congestion on the Pune-Nashik Highway (NH-60) in the Chakan-Talegaon industrial belt.
The Rs 100.14 crore plan covers 17.05 km of roads; articles differ on scope, with one citing seven major district and MIDC roads and another mentioning 27 major roads.
Routes include Hingane Chowk–Kharabwadi (0.9 km) for Volkswagen and Chakan MIDC Phases 2 and 3 traffic, SANY–Nanekarwadi (1.2 km) to ease pressure at Chakan Chowk, Bangla Wasti Chowk–Rase Phata (2.5 km) and a 45-metre-wide Western Bypass (0.85 km) to Chakan MIDC Phase 5.

Nearly 3,000 companies operate in the belt, and around 20 reportedly consider shifting to Khandala MIDC in Satara over traffic and infrastructure problems.
