BMC Proposes De-Reserving Ambivli Plot for Laxmi Narayan Temple Reconstruction

The temple building is old and in poor condition, and more people are coming to visit it.

The trust asked the city to free up part of the land so it could rebuild the temple.
City officials say the request can be considered.
The plan will be checked by a city committee on Wednesday.

The BMC has proposed deleting the garden reservation on 1,840 sq m of a 2,278.90-sq-m Ambivli plot in Andheri West.
The Shrimad Bharat Mandali Trust, which manages the Laxmi Narayan Temple, requested the de-reservation.
The trust wants the land merged with the adjoining residential zone to rebuild the dilapidated temple.
The plot was previously reserved for a playground in 1967, a recreation ground in 1991, and social amenity and a slum cluster in the 2012 survey, before being reserved for a garden and park under Development Plan 2034.
The proposal will be tabled before the BMC Improvement Committee on Wednesday, and if approved, will go to the State Urban Development Department for final consideration.
