Unitree set to become first mainland-listed humanoid robot maker
Unitree is a robot company in China that makes machines that look like dogs and people.
Its human-like robots became famous in videos where they run, dance and do martial arts.
The company decided to sell shares on the stock market in Shanghai to raise money.
This made it the first company that makes human-like robots to be listed in mainland China.
People were so excited that more than 8,000 times more investors wanted shares than were available.
Unitree also makes money, which is unusual for robot companies, earning a profit of about 600 million yuan last year.
Big companies such as Meituan, Tencent and Alibaba have invested in it.
Right now, most of its robots are used by schools and research projects.
They still have trouble working by themselves for long periods of time.
Unitree hopes to use the new money to make robots smarter and one day have them work in factories and homes.
Unitree priced its Shanghai IPO at 150.80 yuan per share, seeking to raise 6.1 billion yuan (about $904 million).
The listing would make Unitree the first mainland-listed humanoid robot manufacturer, with its retail tranche more than 8,000 times oversubscribed.
Founded in 2016 by engineer Wang Xingxing, the Hangzhou-based firm's 2025 revenue rose more than fourfold to nearly 1.7 billion yuan, with adjusted net profit of about 600 million yuan.
Meituan is Unitree's largest outside investor at 9.65%, while Tencent, Alibaba Group, Ant Group, China Mobile and Geely also invested in a June 2025 round.
Unitree warns geopolitical tensions and potential U.S. trade restrictions could weigh on expansion, and rivals Leju Robotics and AgiBot are also pursuing listings.
