In Hyderabad, a big city in India, many families dream of owning a home.

The government started a special program called Indiramma to help families with less money buy a small flat.

These flats are one-bedroom homes that are 528 square feet.

More than 35,000 families applied for these homes by the deadline on Monday.

But there are only 7,680 flats available.

Because of this, the government will pick who gets a flat using a lucky draw, like a lottery.

Families who are chosen will pay 6 lakh rupees, and the government will pay 5 lakh rupees to help.

The land for the homes is given for free.

To be eligible, a family must earn less than 6 lakh rupees a year and not already own a home.

A huge wave of people applied on the very last day, so the final count may grow even higher.
