A 23-year-old man, Dinesh Mahadev Jhambre, was arrested for allegedly killing a young man and seriously injuring a woman with an iron rod in Pune's Hinjawadi area.
The attack took place on Thursday, August 6, at the place where the woman and the young man were staying, and police suspect a love triangle motive.
Police said Jhambre and the woman had been in a relationship since their school days and later moved to Pune to study BCA, but she reportedly developed a relationship with another man.
The accused was intercepted by Uruli Kanchan Police while fleeing towards Pandharpur in an Ertiga car on the Pune-Solapur Highway.
Jhambre allegedly confessed to the murder and the attack during questioning; police seized the vehicle and further investigation is underway.
The young man died on the spot, while the woman suffered serious head injuries in the attack.
