Modi Pays Floral Tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat

On this special day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to a memorial called Raj Ghat in New Delhi.

Raj Ghat is the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, who is known as the Father of the Nation.

The Prime Minister placed flowers at the memorial to show respect.

Placing flowers in this way is called paying floral tributes.

He did this before giving his big speech to all the people of the country.

That speech, called the address to the nation, was given from the Red Fort.

Visiting the memorial first was a way for the Prime Minister to honor Mahatma Gandhi on Independence Day.
