Odisha ends six-attempt cap, raises job age limit to 42
Odisha is a state in India.
On Independence Day, the state's leader, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, made important announcements.
He said there is no longer a limit on how many times a person can try the Odisha Civil Services exam, which is a test for important government jobs.
Before, people could only try six or nine times.
He also said the age limit for government jobs is now 42 years instead of 32.
That means more people can apply for government jobs.
The government will also give free textbooks to students in Classes IX and X. Students in Classes 9 and 10 will get free mid-day meals at school.
The state plans to hire 45,000 new teachers and open 18 new colleges and 4 new universities.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the end of the six-attempt cap on the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) examination.
The maximum age limit for government jobs in Odisha was raised from 32 to 42 years.
Previously, general-category applicants were allowed six attempts and SEBC applicants nine, while Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes faced no cap.
Majhi announced free textbooks for Classes IX and X, extension of the mid-day meal scheme to Classes 9 and 10, and the appointment of 45,000 teachers.
Under the Samrudha Odisha roadmap for 2036, the state aims to create 20 lakh jobs in five years, backed by investment proposals worth ₹21 lakh crore.
