AKPL Sets New Iron Ore Import Record at Krishnapatnam
Adani Krishnapatnam Port handled its biggest-ever shipment of imported iron ore.
The shipment weighed 195,128 metric tonnes.
It arrived on a very large ship called MV Mineral Deutschland.
The ship was safely brought to the port and unloaded on August 27.
This broke the port’s earlier record of 195,014 metric tonnes.
The ship was 300 metres long and needed deep water to enter safely.
The port has five berths designed for ships of this size.
AKPL CEO Jagdish Patel said the record showed the port could handle large cargoes safely and efficiently.
Adani Krishnapatnam Port Limited handled a record 195,128 MT iron ore import parcel.
The cargo was discharged from Capesize vessel MV Mineral Deutschland on August 27.
The latest figure surpassed the previous record of 195,014 MT set on November 23, 2024.
The 300-metre vessel had a draft of 17.70 metres and is among ultra-large vessels.
AKPL operates five berths capable of handling such large vessels, reportedly the highest number at any Indian port.
