India Taps 15 Countries for LNG, 41 for Crude Oil
India needs oil and gas to keep running, but it does not have enough of its own, so it buys them from other countries.
Recently, a crisis in West Asia caused big problems for ships traveling through a very busy waterway called the Strait of Hormuz.
This made it harder for India to get the energy supplies it needs.
So India decided to buy energy from many more countries than it did before.
India now buys liquefied natural gas, which is gas turned into liquid so it is easier to ship, from 15 countries instead of just 6.
It also buys crude oil, the ingredient used to make petrol and diesel, from 41 countries instead of just 27.
Having more countries to choose from gives India more options if one supply route gets blocked.
The government told the Rajya Sabha, a part of India's parliament, about these changes.
