Mumbai Cafe Mondegar Loses Licence After Food Safety Violations
Cafe Mondegar in Mumbai has temporarily lost its licence after food inspectors found safety and cleanliness problems.
Inspectors said hot food was not kept hot enough and cold food was not kept cold enough.
They also found problems with thawing and cooling cooked food.
These issues could allow germs to spread between foods.
Three other establishments also had their licences suspended.
Nine more food businesses faced action after inspections.
Officials checked 38 establishments and collected 47 food samples.
They also seized milk products and sweets worth more than Rs 15 lakh.
The inspections are part of a wider food-safety crackdown before the festive season.
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration suspended the licences of Cafe Mondegar and three other Mumbai eateries.
Inspectors reported improper hot- and cold-food storage, unsafe thawing and cooling, and sanitation deficiencies.
The four establishments were found violating mandatory hygiene rules under Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The inspections covered 38 food establishments, with 47 samples collected, including milk, khoya and ghee.
The regulator also seized 30 litres of milk and more than 4,000 kilograms of milk products and sweets valued at over Rs 15 lakh.
