Maharashtra FDA Suspends Five MCA Food Outlet Licences
Food safety inspectors checked five eating places at the Mumbai Cricket Association.
They said the places had problems such as dirty equipment, poor refrigeration and unsafe food storage.
Some food was not cooled, thawed or separated properly.
Inspectors also found problems with floors, ceilings, packaging and protection from insects.
The FDA said another company was running the outlets even though the licences were in the cricket association’s name.
Because of these findings, the FDA suspended the outlets’ licences or registration.
The inspections happened on August 20, and suspension orders were issued on August 21.
The action was part of a larger Maharashtra campaign checking 45 food businesses.
The FDA also issued notices and suspended licences at other establishments.
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration suspended licences or registration for five outlets at Mumbai Cricket Association premises in Bandra Kurla Complex.
The affected outlets are Permit Room, Pavilion, Mediterranean, Oriental Swing, and Clubway & Pastry Counter.
Inspections on August 20 found alleged problems involving refrigeration, food storage, temperature control, sanitation, raw materials, packaging and pest prevention.
The FDA said the outlets were being operated by M/s Shirke Infrastructure despite licences being issued in the MCA’s name.
The statewide drive covered 45 food establishments, conducted 25 raids, issued 33 improvement notices and suspended 11 licences, according to the FDA.
