GVMC Chief Orders Overnight Cleanup at Ganesh Immersion Sites
Ketan Garg is the city official responsible for sanitation in Visakhapatnam.
He visited a Ganesh immersion site late on Monday night.
He wanted to see whether workers and equipment were ready.
He told workers to clean away flowers, पूजा materials, idol pieces and other rubbish quickly.
The waste should be removed within two to three hours in the early morning.
The site should be clean by sunrise.
Officials must check workers’ attendance using facial-recognition devices.
They must also keep the area well-lit and have enough vehicles and machines available.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg inspected the Ganesh immersion site near Naval Coastal Battery around midnight on Monday.
He reviewed the immersion process, sanitation work, worker attendance and staff deployment.
Officials were told to remove idols’ remnants, flowers, puja materials and other waste within two to three hours after immersion.
Garg directed officials to maintain sanitation operations throughout the night and keep sites clean by daybreak.
He ordered facial-recognition attendance monitoring and regular checks of lighting, vehicles, machinery and equipment.
