Vijayawada Tightens Ganesh Immersion and Pandal Safety Measures
Vijayawada is getting ready for people to immerse Ganesh idols.
City officials checked several roads and facilities before the festival.
They told organisers to make pandals safe from fires, electrical problems and weak structures.
Every pandal must keep water, sand and fire extinguishers nearby.
Organisers must also separate different kinds of waste.
Flower waste will be recycled into incense and dhoop sticks.
Officials asked people to use clay idols and celebrate without harming city sanitation.
The city also checked whether food and surroundings at an Anna Canteen were clean.
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation prepared vehicles, cranes, lighting and sanitation services at Seethamma Vari Padalu for idol immersion.
Commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra ordered safety checks covering fire equipment, electrical connections and pandal structures.
Each pandal must have a 200-litre water drum, sand, and CO₂ and dry chemical powder extinguishers.
Organisers were directed to separate wet, dry and flower waste, with flowers sent for recycling into incense and dhoop sticks.
The VMC also reviewed sanitation, food quality and services at the Anna Canteen in HB Canteen.
