Maharashtra Launches Digital Land Bank, Mahabhoomi Stack for Projects
Maharashtra has started two digital systems for managing land and government records.
One system is called the Maharashtra Land Bank.
It shows land that can be used for compensatory afforestation when forests are diverted for projects.
The bank includes more than 33,000 hectares of degraded forest land and more than 7,500 hectares of non-forest land.
This could help officials find suitable land more quickly for infrastructure projects.
The second system is called Mahabhoomi Stack.
It brings together more than 10 kinds of revenue information.
Citizens can use it to see information about a survey number online.
The government says more than one crore people already benefit from the connected digital revenue services.
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule launched the Maharashtra Land Bank and Mahabhoomi Stack.
The land bank identifies 33,056 hectares of degraded forest land for compensatory afforestation.
It also lists 7,546 hectares of non-forest land held by the Revenue Department.
The digital inventory is intended to speed land clearances for highways, railways, bullet train corridors and power lines.
Mahabhoomi Stack combines more than 10 revenue data types and provides survey-number information online.
