NFR Reaches 42.1 MWp Solar Capacity, Leading Indian Railways

Northeast Frontier Railway is adding more solar panels to produce clean electricity.

From January to July 2026, it added 23.7 MWp of solar capacity.

This brought its total solar capacity to 42.1 MWp.

Lumding Division has the largest amount of installed solar power.

In 2025–26, the solar panels produced about 114 lakh units of electricity.

This helped the railway save around Rs.

8.6 crores.

The savings and electricity production were much higher than in the previous year.

NFR is also working on another 9 MWp of solar projects to use more renewable energy.
