Railway Chief Inspects Key Sections of Jiribam–Imphal Project
A railway project is being built to connect Imphal with the wider rail network.
Ashish Bansal, a railway official, inspected several parts of the project.
He checked construction work, tunnels, yards and bridges.
Workers are building the railway through difficult hills and mountains.
The project will have 54 tunnels and many bridges.
It will also include 11 railway stations.
Some parts of the line are already open, while other sections are still under construction.
The railway is expected to make travel and the movement of goods easier for people in Manipur.
Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction) General Manager Ashish Bansal inspected three sections of the Jiribam–Imphal New Line Project.
The inspection covered yards, Tunnel Nos. 28 and 12, and preparations for a CRS inspection planned for October 2026.
The 110.625-kilometre project includes 54 tunnels, 15 major bridges, 116 minor bridges and 11 stations.
Bridge No. 164 at Noney is the project’s tallest bridge, with piers reaching 141 metres.
The line is being built in phases to provide direct rail connectivity to Imphal and improve passenger and goods movement.
