Madhya Pradesh has fewer senior police officers than it needs.

Many Deputy Inspector Generals, or DIGs, are currently handling jobs meant for Inspector Generals, or IGs.

About 18 DIGs may be promoted on January 1, 2027.

Most of them are from the 2009 group of IPS officers.

A committee will review the promotions.

The state currently has 16 IGs.

One IG, Abhay Singh, is expected to become an Additional Director General, while 18 DIGs may become IGs.
