Every so often, grown-ups make sure the official list of people who can vote is correct.

In the state of Telangana, helpers went door to door giving people special forms to fill out.

The forms help make sure every voter's name and address are right.

But in the city of Hyderabad, many people did not return their forms.

Only about 6 out of every 10 people who got a form gave it back.

That means almost half of the voter forms in Hyderabad are still missing.

Some other parts of the state did a better job of returning forms.

The election office will now check the forms and publish a new draft list on August 17.

People will get time until October 15 to look at the list and fix any mistakes.

The final voter list will be ready on October 19.
