Trump Rejects Iran's Compensation Demand, Issues Counter-Claim for Casualties
Trump flips on Iran’s demand, seeks compensation for 52,000 deaths · financialexpress.com

The United States and Iran are having a big argument after five months of fighting.

Iran says the United States hurt its country and wants money to fix the damage.

President Trump said no, and said Iran should pay money instead.

He says Iran hurt and killed many people over many years, including in a ship bombing and in wars led by a general named Qassem Soleimani.

Trump also said Iran should pay the families of protesters hurt by its own government, and he claims 52,000 people died in the last five months.

Other reports say the real number of deaths is much smaller, and the ship bombing he mentioned was actually done by a different group.

Iran's military said it will keep a very busy waterway called the Strait of Hormuz closed until the US meets all of its conditions.

Many ships use that waterway to carry oil, so people around the world are worried.

Both sides are still negotiating, and a temporary ceasefire may end very soon.
