Tamil Nadu to Launch Rooftop Solar Registration Website September 21
Tamil Nadu is creating a website for people who want rooftop solar panels.
The website will open on September 21.
The central government and Tamil Nadu government will help pay for the panels.
The total help can be as much as Rs.
1 lakh for larger systems.
This money should reach a person’s bank account within 7 to 30 days after installation.
Solar panels can reduce electricity bills.
Officials said the cost of the panels may be recovered in about five or six years.
The government also bought extra electricity after wind power production fell, and it said most power shortages had been resolved.
The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board will launch a rooftop solar registration website on September 21.
Central and state subsidies together can reach Rs. 1 lakh for systems generating 3 KW or more.
The Centre offers subsidies of Rs. 30,000 for 1 KW and Rs. 60,000 for 2 KW systems.
The state will add Rs. 5,000 for 1 KW, Rs. 10,000 for 2 KW, and Rs. 22,000 for systems of 3 KW or more.
Officials said power shortages linked to reduced wind generation had been addressed through additional electricity purchases.
