Centre Appoints Eight Chief Justices Across India’s High Courts
The Centre has appointed eight judges to become chief justices of different high courts in India.
The appointments came a few days after recommendations by the Supreme Court Collegium.
Justice Valluri Kameswar Rao will lead the Patna High Court.
Justice Ravindra V. Ghuge will lead the Calcutta High Court.
Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal will lead the Rajasthan High Court, while Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi will lead the Bombay High Court.
Four other judges were appointed to lead the Punjab and Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh high courts.
The appointments were announced by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on X. The report also mentioned allegations involving Rajasthan acting chief justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Supreme Court judge Sandeep Mehta.
