Rayalaseema Horticulture Programme to Expand Development in Prakasam
A new programme to develop fruit, vegetable, and other plant-growing businesses was launched at Madanapalle on Friday.
It is called the Rayalaseema Comprehensive Horticulture Development Programme.
The programme is expected to cost Rs 1 lakh crore.
Prakasam district already has 32,702 hectares used for horticulture.
The government plans to develop another 27,156 hectares there.
Ten horticulture clusters and 35 mandals in the erstwhile Prakasam district are expected to benefit.
The plans include helping farmers grow better crops, use water well, and sell their produce.
A foundation stone was also laid for the Indian School of Agriculture.
