Andhra Pradesh Plans Global Horticulture Hub Across Rayalaseema
Andhra Pradesh wants Rayalaseema to grow and sell more fruits around the world.
The government plans to build a large horticulture programme across 10 districts and 201 clusters.
It will begin on October 2 in Madanapalle.
A new Indian School of Agriculture will also receive a foundation stone.
The project could involve nearly ₹1 lakh crore from the government and private companies.
Farmers will be encouraged to work together, process their crops and find better markets.
Officials will also study which crops may help farmers and consumers most during El Niño conditions.
The plan is intended to improve farm incomes and support the region’s economic development over five to six years.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu plans to develop Rayalaseema as a global horticulture hub across 10 districts and 201 clusters.
The Integrated Horticulture Hub will launch on October 2 at Madanapalle in Annamayya district, alongside the foundation stone ceremony for the Indian School of Agriculture.
The project is estimated at nearly ₹1 lakh crore, with ₹40,000 crore from the government and ₹60,000 crore from private investors under a public-private partnership model.
Officials will link horticultural crops with Farmer Producer Organisations, food processing, marketing systems and international markets.
The government will also prepare alternative crop plans for El Niño, use AI-based analysis and monitor prices of 14 crop categories to balance farmer and consumer interests.
