Naidu and Sitharaman to Launch Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub
Andhra Pradesh plans to build a large horticulture hub in the Rayalaseema region.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will start the project on October 2.
The Central Government will provide ₹40,000 crore for it.
Private investors are expected to provide another ₹60,000 crore.
The project will cover several districts, including the four former districts of Rayalaseema.
It is meant to help farmers grow horticultural crops in areas affected by drought.
The government is also working on irrigation projects to provide reliable water for farming.
A new agriculture school established by Reliance will also be launched at the event.
The school will provide education and training in agriculture.
N. Chandrababu Naidu and Nirmala Sitharaman will lay the foundation stone for the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub at Madanapalle on October 2.
The Central Government will provide ₹40,000 crore under the Purvodaya scheme, while ₹60,000 crore is expected from private investments.
The project will cover Rayalaseema’s four erstwhile districts, along with Prakasam and Nellore districts.
The hub aims to promote horticulture in drought-prone areas, strengthen the agricultural economy and improve farmers’ incomes.
A Reliance-established Indian School of Agriculture will also receive its foundation stone at the Madanapalle programme.
