Pawan Kalyan Announces Major Rayalaseema Horticulture Push
Pawan Kalyan says Rayalaseema can become a place known for growing and selling fruit and other crops, instead of drought.
The government has begun work on a horticulture hub and an agriculture school in Madanapalle.
The plan includes storage buildings, places to pack and process food, and ways to transport and sell crops.
These facilities are meant to help farmers keep more of their harvest from going to waste and reach more buyers.
Kalyan also described irrigation, water conservation and road projects in the region.
He said horticulture has expanded across 62,000 acres in Rayalaseema and benefits about 28,000 farmers.
According to him, the hub could create many jobs and add substantial value to the region's farm produce.
Those figures are projections he presented for the project.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said Rayalaseema would be developed as a global horticulture centre.
The Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub and Indian School of Agriculture had their foundation stones laid in Madanapalle on Friday.
The planned hub will connect horticulture clusters with cold storage, pack houses, processing, value addition and export infrastructure.
Kalyan said more than ₹8,000 crore in development works had been taken up in Rayalaseema over the past two years.
He said the project could protect 40–45 lakh metric tonnes of produce and generate about ₹81,000 crore in additional gross value from its third year.
