Two Arrested for Posing as Minister Aadhav Arjuna
Two people in India pretended to be a very important government minister named Aadhav Arjuna.
They wanted to trick a local lawmaker who works for the government.
The tricksters told the lawmaker that he could get a big new job if he paid them a huge amount of money — eight crore rupees.
To make their lie look real, they made a fake email account using the minister's name.
They also sent a picture of a fake message to a friend of the lawmaker.
The lawmaker got suspicious and talked to them over a video call.
When he saw them, he realized they were not the real minister at all.
The police were told what happened, and the two people were arrested.
Pretending to be someone else to take money is a crime, so now they are in trouble.
Villivakkam police in Chennai arrested Ruben Raj (27) of Vellore and Sakthi Arjun (21) of Tondiarpet for impersonating PWD Minister Aadhav Arjuna.
The accused created a fake email ID in the minister's name and demanded Rs 8 crore from Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) Vellore MLA M.M. Vinoth Kannan.
The money was demanded in exchange for securing a ministerial berth for the MLA.
Ruben Raj sent a screenshot of a fake confirmation message through WhatsApp to Dayalan, who has contacts with the Vellore MLA's office.
The MLA discovered the impersonation during a group video call, and a complaint by TVK functionary Nisvaaq led to arrests on charges including impersonation, creating fake electronic documents, and criminal conspiracy.
