Mangaluru Railway Area to Join South Western Railway in October

Mangaluru Railway Area to Join South Western Railway in October
Single-roof administration for Mangaluru Railways to begin in October · thehansindia.com

Mangaluru’s railway area is currently managed by more than one railway administration.

The Railway Board has decided to place the area up to Ullal under South Western Railway’s Mysuru division.

This change is planned for October 1, 2026.

The final boundaries will be described in a Gazette Notification.

The interchange between Southern Railway and South Western Railway will move from Padil to Ullal.

Thokur station will still be managed by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited.

Railway staff and posts will be reorganized, and some employees can choose which railway to join.

Supporters believe one main administration could make it easier to solve passenger problems and improve railway projects in coastal Karnataka.
