Telangana tops country in key cybercrime initiatives: PMO review
Telangana is a state in India.
Cybercrime is when bad people use computers and the internet to cheat or hurt others.
Big leaders from the government held a meeting to check how well every state handles cybercrime.
The Prime Minister's office led this meeting.
Telangana came in first place in the whole country.
The state was praised for building new computer tools that help catch online criminals and return stolen money.
So far, about 16.42 crore rupees have been given back to people who were tricked online.
Telangana also stopped more than 20,000 bad websites from working.
They made a special phone number so people can call and get help if they are cheated online.
The state says everyone should use these tools to report online fraud quickly.
Telangana was ranked No. 1 in the country in cybercrime control and handling during a PRAGATI review meeting chaired by the PMO.
The state was commended for setting up the country's first S4C, implementing e-Zero FIR, and effectively using I4C portals including Samanvaya, Sahyog, GRM, and MRM.
A dedicated helpline (8712665600) was launched for grievances related to the Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) and Money Restoration Module (MRM).
As of August 2, 2,368 GRM grievance requests were filed in Telangana, with law enforcement agencies taking action in 2,086; Rs 16.42 crore was restored under MRM.
Under the Sahyog portal, 20,070 of 22,447 URLs were removed or disabled, and 3,524 cases with profiles of 5,493 arrested persons were uploaded on the Samanvaya portal.
