FSSAI Finds Expired Food and Pests at Delhi Hotels
Food safety inspectors checked the kitchens of two large hotels in Delhi.
They found expired food, insects and unpleasant smells at Andaz Delhi.
About 87 kilograms of expired sweets were destroyed there.
Inspectors also found expired bread and cake bases.
At JW Marriott New Delhi, they recorded 59 problems.
These included rotten fruits and vegetables, incorrect labels, unsafe storage and cockroaches.
Some workers lacked protective clothing, and one worker was cooking with an open wound.
The food safety authority told both hotels to fix the problems.
FSSAI inspections found hygiene, storage, segregation and licensing deficiencies at Andaz Delhi and JW Marriott New Delhi.
At Andaz Delhi, about 87 kilograms of expired sweets were destroyed, while expired bread and cake bases were also found.
Inspectors reported flies, cockroaches, foul smells and improperly stored vegetarian and non-vegetarian cutting boards at Andaz Delhi.
The JW Marriott inspection recorded 59 deficiencies, including pests, rotten produce, labelling errors, open food storage and equipment problems.
FSSAI directed both hotels to take corrective action as India prepared to host the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
