Cockroaches, Expired Idli Found in Bengaluru Assembly Complex Canteen
Food safety inspectors in Bengaluru checked restaurants and canteens to make sure the food they serve is clean and fresh.
They found cockroaches in the kitchen of a hotel restaurant called Mallige Hotel.
They also found old, expired food, like idli rava and coconut powder, at a government canteen called Arogya Soudha.
The restaurant and the canteen had not done proper pest control to keep bugs away.
Food was not being stored the way safety rules say it should be.
These checks are happening all over Karnataka, not just in Bengaluru.
The inspectors also visited a big warehouse that supplies food to many hotels and restaurants.
That warehouse was clean, but some of its food items had wrong labels.
Some chicken and garlic did not have the correct food safety license details.
The people in charge may face legal action for breaking the rules.
Karnataka health officials raided food establishments around Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Cockroaches were found in the kitchen of the Mallige Hotel restaurant inside the Legislators House, which had not carried out pest control.
The Arogya Soudha Canteen on Magadi Road was found serving expired food including idli rava and coconut powder, with improper storage and no pest control.
A food and grocery supply warehouse serving major hotels had no FSSAI license number for 146 kg of chicken, a lapsed licence for 40 kg of garlic, and mislabelled rice, dry fruits and spices.
Officials warned of strict legal action against violators as part of a statewide crackdown covering hotels, restaurants and dark stores across Karnataka.
