FSSAI Notices Delhi Aerocity Hotels Over Cockroaches, Expired Food
Food safety officials inspected two large hotels in Delhi’s Aerocity.
They said the hotels had problems such as cockroaches, flies, bad smells and poor cleaning.
Some food was expired, including bread, cake bases and about 87 kilograms of sweets.
The expired sweets were destroyed at the inspection site.
Officials also found problems keeping different kinds of food separate and storing food safely.
One inspection report recorded 59 deficiencies, although sources described that site differently from the named hotels.
FSSAI collected food samples from JW Marriott for laboratory testing.
In a separate case in Maharashtra, officials suspended a food licence after finding spoiled paneer without a date.
FSSAI issued notices to JW Marriott and Juniper Hotels’ Andaz hotel in Delhi’s Aerocity over serious hygiene and food-safety violations.
Inspectors found cockroaches near freezers, flies, mosquitoes, spider webs, foul odours and poor sanitation.
Andaz reportedly had about 87 kilograms of expired sweets, expired bread and cake bases; the sweets were destroyed on site.
Other findings included poor vegetarian and non-vegetarian segregation, inadequate labelling, open food storage, mouldy apples and rotten tomatoes.
In a separate Maharashtra case, authorities suspended an establishment’s FSSAI licence after finding foul-smelling, undated paneer.
