MP seeks Rs 10,000 monthly pension for Gramin Dak Sevaks

In India, there are postal workers called Gramin Dak Sevaks who help people in villages and towns.

They deliver mail, help with banking, and tell people about government programs that can help them.

About 270,000 people do this important job.

Many of them work for 38 to 44 years, almost their whole working life.

But when they stop working, they do not get a monthly pension like many other government workers.

They only receive a one-time payment of about 3 lakh rupees, which is not enough to live on.

An elected leader named Ambika Lakshminarayana asked the government to give each retired worker 10,000 rupees every month.

She met the Communications Minister in New Delhi and handed him a written request.

The minister said the government will discuss the idea with other officials.

If it happens, retired postal workers could live with more comfort and dignity.
