India Raises Petrol, Diesel Export Taxes, Cuts Jet Fuel Levy

India’s government changed the taxes on some fuels sold to other countries.

The tax on exported petrol increased from zero to ₹1.5 per litre.

The tax on exported diesel rose from ₹24 to ₹25 per litre.

The tax on exported aviation fuel decreased from ₹19.5 to ₹19 per litre.

These rates started on September 1, 2026.

The government reviews these taxes every two weeks.

The taxes are meant to help keep enough fuel available in India.

They are also intended to limit exporters’ gains when global oil prices rise during the West Asia crisis.
