Athawale Launches Uttarakhand Disability Mapping Programme
Ramdas Athawale launched a programme in Uttarakhand to identify children with learning disabilities and autism.
The programme took place at a school in Dehradun.
The school teaches children with and without disabilities together.
About 67 students with disabilities study there.
Athawale said disabilities do not prevent people from showing talent or achieving success.
He pointed to Indian para-athletes as an example.
He promised that the central government would support education and skills for people with disabilities.
He also reviewed several welfare programmes and their progress in Uttarakhand.
Union Minister of State Ramdas Athawale inaugurated Uttarakhand’s first state-level mapping programme for children with Specific Learning Disability and Autism in Dehradun.
The programme was launched under the Uttarakhand State Divyang Child Campaign at ITI Doon Sanskriti School, Jhajra.
The school has 67 students with disabilities and about 150 students from northeastern states studying in an inclusive environment.
Athawale said the government has allocated around ₹950 crore for initiatives supporting persons with disabilities.
He reviewed welfare schemes in Uttarakhand, including Jan Dhan, Mudra, Ujjwala, housing, LED distribution, senior-care and de-addiction programmes.
