India Launches DISSSA Campaign to Empower Persons with Disabilities
“Recognise Persons with Disabilities by Their Abilities, Not Their Disability”: Dr. Virendra Kumar · freepressjournal.in

India has started a campaign called DISSSA to support persons with disabilities.

The campaign is a partnership between a government department and the Rajyoga Education & Research Foundation.

It says people should be valued for what they can do, not only for their disabilities.

Trained teams will visit communities, schools and other places in different States.

They will use games, songs, meditation and learning activities to build confidence.

The campaign will also speak with families and communities about equality and inclusion.

Some activities will promote health, cleanliness and freedom from addiction.

Programmes will be offered in regional languages and for people with different kinds of disabilities.

The goal is to help people participate in society with dignity and equal opportunities.
