Delhi Commission Orders Resort to Refund Wedding Advance

A man named Naresh booked a big party hall in Delhi for his daughter’s wedding in May 2021.

He paid a deposit of Rs 2 lakh.

But because of COVID‑19 rules, the wedding had to be moved to a small home ceremony.

Naresh asked the hall to give back his money, but they said it was non‑refundable.

He went to the Delhi consumer commission, which said the hall was wrong because the pandemic was a force that made the wedding impossible.

The commission ordered the hall to return the Rs 2 lakh and also give Rs 35,000 for the trouble he went through.
