Singareni Ordered To Raise Daily Coal Dispatch Amid Power Demand
Singareni produces coal that helps power plants make electricity.
The company was asked to produce and send out 1.9 lakh tonnes of coal each day.
This is because people are using more electricity.
The request came from company chairman and managing director Dr Budhaprakash Jyoti.
He said the company must help keep the country’s energy supply secure.
Rains had slowed some work, so mining areas were asked to increase production as the weather improves.
The company had already sent 2.53 crore tonnes of coal in the first five months of the financial year.
Most of that coal went to power plants, and officials were also told to remove more earth from mining areas safely.
Singareni Collieries Company Limited was directed to raise daily coal production and dispatch to 1.9 lakh tonnes.
The target aims to meet rising power demand in the state and across the country.
Officials were told to exceed production and rail-dispatch targets as rains recede while maintaining safety standards.
SCCL dispatched 2.53 crore tonnes of coal during the first five months of the financial year ending August 31.
More than 90% of the dispatched coal was supplied to thermal power plants, while overburden removal reached 95% of its target.
