MRVC Plans All-Weather Subways at Mumbai Trespassing Hotspots
Mumbai: After Bhiwandi, MRVC Plans All-Weather Subways At Trespassing-Prone Stretches · freepressjournal.in

Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation wants to build special underground crossings near railway tracks.

These crossings would help people avoid walking directly across the tracks.

The plan follows the successful opening of an all-weather subway near Bhiwandi Road.

Three possible locations have been named, while a fourth has not yet been announced.

The crossings are meant to make travel safer and reduce deaths caused by trespassing.

The Bhiwandi subway was built underneath seven working railway lines without stopping train operations.

It has waterproofing, lighting, ventilation and drainage.

MRVC still needs to study the locations and finalize the designs.
