MRVC Advances Bhivpuri and Vangaon EMU Carshed Projects
The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation is building two new places to repair and maintain suburban trains.
These places will be at Bhivpuri and Vangaon.
At Bhivpuri, all the required land has been acquired.
Much of the soil and ground preparation work there is already finished.
At Vangaon, some private land has been acquired, while forest land still needs additional approval.
The project received its first forest clearance in February 2026.
Both facilities are part of a larger plan to support more and newer trains.
The new carsheds should help Mumbai’s suburban railway maintain its trains more effectively.
MRVC is accelerating construction of new EMU carsheds at Bhivpuri and Vangaon under MUTP-IIIA.
The entire 45.24-hectare Bhivpuri site has been acquired, and about 7.16 lakh cubic metres of earthwork is complete.
Bhivpuri retaining wall work is underway, while bridge and carshed design approvals remain in process.
At Vangaon, private-land acquisition has progressed and Stage-I forest clearance was received in February 2026.
The projects are intended to expand EMU maintenance capacity for Mumbai’s growing suburban railway fleet.
