Sindhu, Lokesh Lay Foundation for Sports Excellence Centre in Vizag
P.V. Sindhu is a famous badminton player from India who has won medals at the Olympics.
She is building a big sports centre in a city called Visakhapatnam.
The centre will help young athletes train in many different sports.
Kids who train there will also be able to go to school at the same place.
There will be special badminton courts, a swimming pool, and even a place for shooting practice.
Coaches and sports scientists will help athletes get stronger and stay healthy.
Sindhu is paying for much of the centre with money she earned from her career.
She says it is her way of giving back to Indian sport.
The building work has already started and should be finished by May 2028.
Sindhu hopes companies and kind people will help support the centre too.
Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh performed the groundbreaking for the PV Sindhu Centre for Sports Excellence in Visakhapatnam alongside two-time Olympic medallist P.V. Sindhu.
The non-profit centre spans nearly two lakh square feet and will bring together seven sporting disciplines with high-performance coaching, sports science and academics under one campus.
Facilities will include specialised badminton courts, a 25-metre competition swimming pool, and a 25-metre shooting range described as the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh.
Originally envisioned as a badminton academy with its first foundation laid in 2024, the expanded project is expected to be completed by May 2028.
Sindhu called the centre her most meaningful contribution to Indian sport, committing much of her career earnings, and appealed to corporates and philanthropists for CSR support.
