APSRTC resolves 35 of 40 staff issues; rest to government
The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, or APSRTC, runs the buses that carry people around Andhra Pradesh.
The people who work for APSRTC had problems they wanted the company to fix.
The workers listed 40 big problems.
The bus company and the workers' leaders sat down and talked about them.
They agreed on how to solve 35 of those problems.
The other five problems are for the state government to decide.
The government also approved jobs for 76 family members of workers who had passed away.
About 1,550 new buses will join the fleet soon, including buses that run on cleaner fuel.
The company promised that new electric buses will not make anyone lose their job.
Four closed depots will also be reopened.
Management and the Joint Action Committee resolved 35 of 40 major issues raised by APSRTC employees' associations through talks.
The remaining five issues, which fall under the State Government's purview, were referred to it for consideration.
The government approved compassionate appointments for 76 eligible family members, 43 cases of medically unfit employees, and 33 cases of employees who died after becoming medically unfit.
Around 1,550 new buses are expected to join the APSRTC fleet over the next six to seven months, including 500 CNG buses and buses under the PM-eBus Sewa programme.
Four previously closed depots will be reopened and recruitment will be taken up in phases; the induction of electric buses will not lead to job losses.
