Tamil Nadu Announces Rs. 254 Crore Drainage Project

Tamil Nadu announced a large plan to improve towns and cities.

The plan is called the Chief Minister’s Integrated Urban Development Mission.

It will work on drinking water, drains, roads and garbage collection.

A drainage project for Pallavaram, Chromepet and Thiruneermalai will cost Rs.

254 crore.

The government also wants to reduce flooding by building more storm-water drains.

Sewage treatment plants will help stop dirty water from entering rivers and streams.

Old garbage will be removed from several dump yards using a process called bio mining.

The plan also includes LED street lights and sterilising street dogs to help prevent rabies.
