Coimbatore Corporation proposes Rs 824 crore underground drainage project

The city of Coimbatore is planning a big new system to carry away dirty water from homes.

This system is called an underground drainage network.

It will be built in areas like Kalapatti, Vilankurichi and part of Saravanampatti.

These are newer parts of the city that do not have good drainage yet.

The project will cost about 824 crore rupees.

That is a very large amount of money, like a giant piggy bank.

The plan includes long pipes buried underground and special stations to pump the water.

The dirty water will go to a treatment plant at Ondipudur, where it will be cleaned.

After cleaning, the water will be released into the Noyyal River.

The city expects many more people to live there in the future, so the system is being built to handle that growth.

The government still needs to approve the plan before building can start.
