Delhi Master Plan 2047 proposes congestion pricing to curb private cars

Delhi is a very big city with lots of cars, and that makes traffic jams and dirty air.

City planners have written a big plan for how Delhi should look in the future, called Master Plan 2047.

The plan says cars should have to pay money to drive through certain busy parts of the city during rush hour.

This is called congestion pricing, and it works like paying for a ticket.

If driving costs more, maybe more people will take the metro, train, or bus instead.

The plan also says parking prices should change based on where and when you park.

Parking near offices, markets, and fun places would be limited so fewer people drive there.

These ideas are meant to reduce air pollution, since cars make a lot of the smoke in Delhi's air.

The Delhi Development Authority has already approved the plan.

The central government may say yes to it within a week.
