Bengaluru Parking Proposal Offers Vacant Landowners Full Tax Waiver
Bengaluru has a very large number of vehicles, and finding parking is difficult.
The Karnataka government wants owners of empty land to use it for parking.
Owners who build multi-level or mechanised parking facilities may not have to pay property tax or service charges.
This would be a full, or 100 per cent, exemption.
The proposed rules may also set parking prices based on the road and location.
People can send feedback about the rules until September 10.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority says vehicles are parked about 95 per cent of the time.
It also says badly managed parking uses a lot of road space and makes it harder for people to walk.
