Police seize 5,050 cough syrup bottles in Ahmedabad night raid

The police took 5,050 bottles of this syrup.

The police also helped a young man who was sad and wanted to hurt himself.
They talked to him, called his family, and sent him home safely.
Ahmedabad Police's Special Operations Group seized 5,050 bottles of prohibited cough syrup worth Rs 59.41 lakh from parcels at the General Post Office on Relief Road.
The seizure was made between 11 p.m. on August 7 and 5 a.m. on August 8 during a night-long operation to strengthen security and curb criminal activities.
The cough syrup case was one of three registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, alongside ganja recoveries in Vatva and Narol.
Police checked 6,560 vehicles, detained 80 under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act, removed black films from 179 vehicles, and registered 19 drunk-driving cases.
Around 2,000 personnel took part under Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut, and officers counselled a 21-year-old man at Picnic House who had intended to attempt suicide.
Other recoveries included 566 grams of ganja, 38 bottles of foreign liquor, and six litres of country-made liquor, with 118 history-sheeters checked.
