Woman and father arrested after father-in-law's alleged suicide
Police in Jhansi arrested a woman and her father after her father-in-law died by suicide, according to police.
The deceased man was named Pramod Yadav, and he was 62 years old.
Police said he was found hanging at his home on Monday.
Pramod’s son, Nishant, filed a complaint against his wife Shivani, her father Bharat, and Bharat’s son Anurag.
The complaint said they had allegedly harassed Pramod and other family members.
It also alleged that Shivani threatened to file dowry-related cases and took valuable jewellery to her parents’ home.
Shivani and Bharat were arrested on Tuesday.
Police are still looking for Anurag and investigating the allegations.
Police arrested Shivani, 30, and her father, Bharat Yadav, 56, in Jhansi on Tuesday.
The arrests concern the alleged abetment to suicide of Shivani’s 62-year-old father-in-law, Pramod Yadav.
Police said Pramod allegedly hanged himself at his home in Nai Basti, Baruasagar, on Monday.
A complaint by Pramod’s son, Nishant, accused Shivani, Bharat and Anurag of harassing Pramod and his family.
A case was registered under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, while police continue searching for Anurag.
