Assam flood toll rises to 97; over 1.68 lakh affected
In a place called Assam in India, a lot of rain has fallen and rivers have overflowed.
This is called a flood, and the water has covered many villages and farms.
Sadly, 97 people have died because of the flood this year.
More than 1.68 lakh people, which is a very big number, are affected by the water.
The government has opened 133 relief camps to help.
These camps give people a safe place to stay and things they need.
About 45,000 people are staying in these camps right now.
The flood has also hurt many animals and damaged crops that farmers grow.
Helpers are working hard to keep everyone safe and give them food and shelter.
Two more deaths, one each in Golaghat and Udalguri districts, took Assam's flood toll this year to 97.
Over 1.68 lakh people are affected across 15 districts, up from around 1.6 lakh across 14 districts on Wednesday.
Golaghat is the worst-affected district with around 54,000 people hit, followed by Sivasagar with over 49,000 and Jorhat with around 27,000.
The ASDMA said 133 relief camps and relief distribution centres are operational in six districts, sheltering and assisting around 45,000 displaced people.
Floodwaters have inundated 481 villages, damaged 14,382.26 hectares of crop area and affected 41,475 domestic animals and poultry across the state.
